About the Agri-Tech Strategy blog

AgriTechInfographic

Hello!  Welcome to the Agri‑Tech Strategy blog, where the Agri-Tech team will be providing you with updates on the progress of the strategy, as well as behind-the-scenes information and (hopefully!) some fun agri-tech related content as well.

For those who haven’t heard of the Agri-Tech Strategy before, let me give you a quick summary of what we do.

The strategy was launched in July 2013.  It aims to help the UK become a world leader in agricultural technology, innovation and sustainability - which will contribute to tackling global challenges such as climate change and food security.  We aim to do this in a number of ways - for example, funding projects to help bring researchers’ ideas to market, and establishing Centres for Agricultural Innovation.

But the exciting thing is that this not simply about Government services and Government money.  The strategy is managed by the Leadership Council, which is made up of members from organisations across the agri-tech sector.  And in the projects mentioned above, Government funding will be matched by funding from industry, and industry will be encouraged to form partnerships with scientists and researchers.  By helping people to work together more effectively, these partnerships will be critical to the strategy’s success.

In the weeks and months to come, we will provide you with more details on the progress of the strategy.  We hope you’ll continue to read our blog and find out more about us, our partners outside Government, and the work we’re doing together.
